Personalized training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable underwater. You will earn the SSI Open Water Diver certification.
Scuba Skills Update
A Scuba Skills Update provides you with the opportunity to review and practice necessary scuba skills that you learned in your original Open Water Diver program under the guidance of an SSI Dive Professional. The Scuba Skills Update is often a required for continuing your diving training after a long period of time away from the sport. You will be issued an SSI Scuba Skills Update recognition card you will earn.

Advanced Open Water Diver
SSI Advanced Open Water Diver is the next recognition rating on the path to becoming an SSI Master Diver, and includes four SSI Specialty program Digital Kits. After completing the four SSI Specialty programs that interest you, as well as 24 logged dives, you will automatically receive the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition rating, along with your SSI Specialty program certifications.
Diver Stress and Rescue
Stress is a major cause of diving accidents and negatively impacts rescue situations. This program teaches you the skills and knowledge required to recognize and deal with stress, prevent accidents and properly deal with emergency situations encountered by divers. You will earn the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue Specialty certification after completing this program.
Master Diver
The SSI Master Diver is one of the most elite ratings in diving today. Divers that have completed this level have combined the knowledge and experience to truly call themselves Master Divers. To earn this rating, you must complete: 4 specialty programs, the Stress & Rescue program, and log a total of 50+ dives.
React Right
React Right is SSI's emergency training program, consisting of the following basic components: Primary Assessment, First Aid & CPR Skills, Primary Stabilization Techniques, and includes two optional components: Oxygen Administration in Diving Emergencies and Automated External Defibrilation Basics. Students who complete this program earn the SSI React Right specialty certification.
Science of Diving
This program provides an in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs. You will earn the SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification after completing this program.
Divemaster
After completing the Dive Guide + Science of Diving courses, you automatically earn the coveted Divemaster rating. and the ability to assist Open Water instructors.
Ecology Courses
These programs teach the skills and concepts required to recognize and identify common species of sharks, mantas & rays, sea turtles, common families of Caribbean, Indo-Pacific, and Red Sea reef fish, and to recognize and identify common families of coral species, and explains their role in the ocean's ecosystems. You can also learn about the complex and exciting study of marine ecosystems.
Assistant Instructor
This program provides the skills, concepts, and teaching experience required to become a successful SSI Instructor. You will learn the SSI Teaching System and philosophy, how to assist Instructors in training and how to independently teach a variety of SSI training programs. Candidates who complete this program can earn the SSI Assistant Instructor rating or work all the way through to the SSI Open Water Instructor after having successfully passed the Instructor Evaluation in addition.
Open Water Instructor
The SSI Open Water Instructor is the most important job in the dive industry- certifying new divers and ensuring they have amazing experiences. It requires a series of specialty diver certifications and logged dives.
